The 'Web PR' show continues in Johannesburg Last month's Heavy Chef Session was held in Cape Town with sterling talks by Bev 'FeistyFemale' Merriman, Cath Luckhoff and Kaz Henderson. We discussed the new tools of PR and the changing face of public relations, along with a great case study in Cath's 'Rocking the Daisies' presentation. The Session was booked out within 10 mins of the invite being sent, with dozens of emails enquiring 'What's up with ignoring Johannesburg?' So, with the express intention of keeping our loyal Jozi set happy, we're stoked to announce three more speakers covering the digital PR sphere. We are also excited to try a new venue with the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology hosting us in their gleaming auditorium in Morningside, Sandton. Part 1: Mel Attree - "How to connect with key online communities"
The first of our topics will be presented by Melissa Attree, another beacon of PR goodness in the SA marketing landscape. Mel is the founder of GetOn eMarketing, a social media firm based in Johannesburg. Mel will be revealing some handy insights into successful online PR campaigns, with a focus on how to identify and connect with bloggers and online community leaders. Part 2: Lisa Clark - "An imperfect science - measuring your online PR campaigns"
The second of three topics for the Session will be presented by Lisa Clark of Sentient Communications. Lisa is a veteran of some of SA's biggest agencies, working with some of SA's most recognised brands over her career. Now heading up the newly formed Johannesburg branch of Sentient, Lisa will cover the much-discussed, much debated methods of measurement and evaluation for PR agencies in today's digital economy. Lisa also happens to be heavily pregnant, so don't be alarmed about the ambulance waiting on standby outside. Part 3: Hein Kaiser - "The changing face of PR in SA"
Hein Kaiser, MD of Marcus Brewster Publicity, is our third and final speaker for the evening. Hein was recently recognised as both the communication and PR industry’s top strategic and creative mind by the Public Relations Institute at its annual PRISM Awards. Hein will talk about the changing role of PR agencies in a digitally networked world: "PR agencies need to start evolving and adapting to the new forms of marketing and communication!" March's Heavy Chef Session is going to be held at the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology (a new venue). If you'd like to join us, please email Rowan (click here) or phone the studio at 0861 932226. Venue: Main Auditorium, GIMT (directions here) There are 50 seats available, on a first-come first-serve basis. As usual, the wine will be provided by Perdeberg and the beer by Corona. See you there! All the best from Fred, Mike and the rest of the Chefs! |
